CHAMBLEE, Ga. (AP) — Police in Atlanta’s northeast suburbs say three men were struck and killed by a pickup as they attempted to walk across a freeway near the start of the morning rush hour.
DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish says the crash happened around 5 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 85.
All southbound lanes of the freeway were blocked for nearly two hours. By 7 a.m., two of the six lanes had reopened.
Moments after the crash, two bodies could be seen on the pavement in the two right lanes of the freeway as a DeKalb County police car blocked those lanes. Shortly after that, more police cars and fire trucks arrived and all southbound lanes were closed.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
