SACO — Liliane R. Pierce, 91, of Garfield Street, passed away June 29, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born in Avery, France on April 4, 1923, the daughter of Ferenand and Estar Diot Caron.

Liliane was raised in Paris, France and on April 14, 1945 she married Donald Pierce. She then traveled to the United States and settled in Portland. She and her family lived in the Biddeford-Saco area before moving to Buxton, where they lived from the 1980s until the 1990s. They then returned to the Saco area.

Liliane was a member of the Second Parish Congregational Church of Biddeford. While there, she was very involved in the church, being the secretary, treasurer, school superintendent and involved in the women’s fellowship. She then became a member of First Parish Congregational Church UCC of Saco. She was a member of the women’s fellowship and prayer shawl committee, and took part in the Christmas fair and worked the bean suppers.

In her extra time, she enjoyed traveling to Europe and the Caribbean. She also attended and supported many of the Tri-City Chorus events.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald Pierce; a son, Patrick Pierce; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen; and a brother, Claude Caron and his wife Josette.

She is survived by: a son, Michael Pierce of Saco; two grandchildren, Tristan and Alisha of Saco; one great-granddaughter, Ellen Renee of Saco; and one nephew; one grandnephew; two great-grandnieces; and one great-grandnephew, all of France.

Friends and family may call Wednesday July 2, 2014 from 1-4 and from 6-9 p.m. at the Dennett, Craig & Pate funeral home 365 Main St., Saco. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at a later date.
