LISBON

The Lisbon Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Lisbon Branch of the Five County Credit Union in Lisbon Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Police say it was initially reported that a “ single offender entered the credit union at which time he immediately displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the tellers and from a customer inside the building.”

The suspect was described as being approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, of average or medium build, wearing dark colored pants and a dark colored zip up style hooded sweatshirt. The face was covered with a mask of some type.

The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of money through the side parking lot of the credit union. No shots were fired and no one was harmed during the robbery.

Lisbon police, assisted by Sabattus police and Cumberland County Sheriff

’s deputies who were in the area, conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect. A police K9 from the Auburn Police Department attempted a track from the scene but was unsuccessful in determining where the suspect went after he was last seen by witnesses behind a neighboring business.

The credit union was immediately closed and locked down after the suspect fled. Lisbon police have been in contact with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations and are following up on the investigation and will be processing evidence from the scene.
