SACO — Roland A. Boissonneault, 87, of Saco, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, after a long illness.

He was born in Sanford on Dec. 27, 1926, the son of John and Laura Gosselin Boisso-nneault, and was educated in Biddeford schools.

Mr. Boissonneault served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On May 14, 1949, he married Therese Letourneau in St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.

He worked more than 10 years with the Saco-Lowell Shop and 30 years with Edward’s Plant and Maremont Corp. in Saco, retiring in 1988.

He enjoyed playing golf and the company of his family.

He was preceded by: two brothers, Herve and his twin Roger Boissonneault.

Surviving are: his wife of 65 years of Saco; one son, Raymond R. Boissonneault and his companion Patricia McCullum of Old Orchard Beach; one daughter, Linda Paquette and her husband Ronald of Biddeford; four grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Boissonneault, Amanda Paquette, and Aron and his wife Anne Paquette; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Maisy Paquette; one sister-in-law, Lucienne Hayford of Saco; his lifelong friend, Ben Beaudoin of Greenville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, followed by a funeral service at noon at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Memorial donations in Roland’s memory may be made to the Maine Veterans Home Activity Fund, 290 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
