OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (9-20) didn’t put up much of a fight on Wednesday, as the Seacoast Mavericks cruised to a blowout 12-4 win at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.
The Mavericks (16-13) scored four runs in the sixth on a groundout by Michael Mastroberti and a two-run home run by Alex Merritt.
Merritt led Seacoast with two extra-base hits.
Joshua Jacques picked up the win for the Mavericks. He allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out four over 5.2 innings of work.
Paul McDonough paced the Raging Tide at the plate, as he went 3-for-5 and drove in a run. He singled in the first, seventh and ninth innings.
Joey Royer was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked one and struck out two.
The Mavericks’ Matt Brill, Ryan Gendron, Tyler Fortanascio and Merritt combined for six hits and seven RBIs. Gendron, Brill and Merritt all homered.
