Upon graduating from Baldwin high School, Baldwin, N.Y., in 1945, Georgia immediately began a 30-year career as a teller in various branches of Citibank in New York City. She was highly commended for her work there. Georgia retired from Citibank in 1982 and spent her remaining years in Harpswell and Topsham.
Georgia traveled extensively, and fondly remembered her time at Ayers Rock in Australia. Her knitting and crocheting skills are well known and many have benefitted from receiving products of her efforts. Georgia knit and donated mittens and hats to people in need throughout Maine, and as far away as Guatemala. Georgia spent many hours volunteering at Parkview Hospital. In recent years, she assisted at the Topsham Library Saturday morning knitting group.
She attended the West Harpswell Baptist Church and will be buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, Harpswell.
Based on the accomplishments of her career and avocations and her thoughtful concern for others, one can truly say in the broadest sense, “She Counted.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
