Bowdoinham will celebrate open farm day Sunday, July 20, starting with tours of nine different farms in town.
Six of those farms have been preserved as “Forever Farms.”
The day will begin with farm tours of nine farms — six of which have been preserved as “Forever Farms.” Several will have displays, farm-raised products for sale, fun activities to enjoy and tasty samples to try. The public is encouraged to “come explore our local farms and see how our food is made.”
From 3-6 p.m., the celebration will continue at Mailly Waterfront Park, with a barbecue featuring fresh food from local farms and live music by Steamboat Gypsy, a folk trio. Cost to eat is $10 for adults, $8 for children and seniors for a smaller serving, and $7 for a kid’s hamburger meal. Pre-register for the barbecue, which is appreciated, by contacting Nicole Briand at [email protected] or 666-5531.
The barbecue will be catered by A’muse Catering. Chef Bryan Leary has worked formally in the hospitality industry for 18 years “and is still passionate for the art of cooking and the wonderful way good food can bring people together.”
