Rotary honors McFarland

According to Mark Wasowski, chairman of the Paul Harris Award Committee, the Sebago Lake Rotary Club presented its third and final Paul Harris Fellows Award for this year to Steve McFarland, of Windham-Raymond Adult Education.

McFarland, Wasowski said, has been a dedicated Rotarian spearheading many projects through the years. Most recently his efforts to engage the club in the End Hunger Outreach packaging program last fall has now developed into a Rotary District project which will take place at the Maine Mall on Sept. 27 where they expect to package over 16,000 meals for local food pantries.

McFarland was also instrumental in transforming the Sebago Lake Ice Fishing Derby into the Sebago Lake Region and Cumberland County Ice Fishing Derby, which included fishing on any lake or body of water that was in or bordered Cumberland County, which allows the derby to take place regardless if Sebago Lake was frozen or not, Wasowski said. This new strategy positioned the derby to have one of its most successful in many years this year.

For more information on the End Hunger Outreach packaging event, contact McFarland at [email protected].
