BRUNSWICK — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has recognized the Bowdoin College women’s tennis team for its work in the classroom in the 2013-14 academic year.
Five individuals were recognized as ITA Scholar Athletes, while the Polar Bears, as a squad, were honored as an ITA All-Academic Team.
In order to earn Scholar Athlete status, an individual must have a GPA of at least 3.5 for the academic year.
For All-Academic Team recognition, a team must reach a cumulative GPA of 3.2.
The five individuals honored were senior Susanna Howard, junior Emma Chow, and first-years Anna Kaplan, Pilar Giffenig and Samantha Stalder.
Bowdoin was one of eight NESCAC teams to earn All- Academic Team status. The Polar Bears also enjoyed one of the finest seasons in school history in 2014, finishing with a 16-7 overall record, reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals and ending the year sixth in final ITA Division III rankings.
