SACO — Reina T. Compagna, 96, of Saco, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Evergreen Manor in Saco.

She was born in Biddeford on May 30, 1918, a daughter of Jean-Baptiste and Josephine (Lizotte) Turcotte.

She attended local schools.

Earlier, Reina was employed for 35 years at Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford. Later, she worked at Giants in Biddeford, The Webber Hospital and Evergreen Manor in Saco, retiring in 1982.

Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed traveling, playing the organ and cooking for her family.

Mrs. Compagna was a preceded in death by: her first husband, Alphonse Samson, in 1983; her second husband, Paul Compagna, in 1998; one brother, Leo Turcotte, in 1972; and one great-grandchild, Austin Jon Lacourse, in 2006.

She is survived by: one son, Roger Samson and his wife Claudette; four grandchildren, Dianne Smith, Debbie Hebert, Marc Samson and Darcy LaCourse; six great-grandchildren, Laurie Boucher and her husband Dan, Charlie Smith 4th, Corey Smith, Chrissy Thompson, and Isabella and Ethan LaCourse; one great-great-grandchild, Brandon Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Evergreen Manor, Hospice of Southern Maine and Biddeford Estates for all their care and support.

Visiting hours will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
