Heart of Biddeford’s Music in the Park on Wednesday, July 30 from 5:30-7 p.m. will feature Saco’s own Derek Wilkinson Band in Shevenell Park.
Thursday, July 31
In advance of the annual Festival of Lights and Illumination Night, people are invited to make their own luminary Thursday, July 31 from 9-10:30 a.m. Chinese lanterns, Chinese take-out containers, and paper bags can be colored, cut or decorated to create a luminary. This workshop at Oceanwood is for all ages. Materials will be available, but there is a $5 fee. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, July 29. Drop in to the OPA office to register or call 934-9068. The Oceanwood Conference Center is located at 17 Royal St. in Ocean Park.
Saturday, Aug. 2
Illumination Night in Ocean Park is Saturday, Aug. 2. During the 24th annual Festival of Lights, members of the Ocean Park community light their homes. A concert by the Ocean Park Band in the square in front of Jakeman Hall will be from 6-7:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the Strawberry Shortcake festival begins in the square. And at 8 p.m., the annual “Walkabout” from street to street and onto the beach takes place, at which time people can view the lighted cottages. For more information, call 934-9068.
A bean supper will be held Saturday, Aug. 2 from 4-6 p.m. at the Oasis Club, 63 School St., Saco.
“Par Sem Day” at Parsonsfield Seminary, 504 North Road in Parsonsfield, is Saturday, Aug. 2, rain or shine, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day includes breakfast, an auto show, music, food, games, flea market, book sale, pie walk and more. For more information, call 793-2384.
A roast beef supper will be held at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 20 Jenkins Road, Saco from 5-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2.
The Wells Summer Concert series will feature On Tap Saturday, Aug. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hope Hobbs Gazebo at Wells Harbor Park.
A church yard sale at St. George Episcopal Church, 3 Emerson St., Sanford, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Call 324-8119 for more information.
