TOPSHAM — Roland A. Poliquin Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born on Jan. 13, 1942, in Manchester, NH, the son of Roland and Sophie (Richards) Poliquin.

He worked for many years in the Brunswick area for various businesses, including the Fuel Farm at Brunswick Naval Air Station, Fox Lumber, Thibeault’s Oil and the Brunswick Housing Authority. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Topsham for several years.

Roland enjoyed hunting camp on Shin Pond with his cousins and most recently his vacation in Rockwood with his son Ronnie, fishing and boating on Moosehead Lake. He also enjoyed camping with his family on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Ronald Poliquin of Brunswick, two brothers Richard Poliquin of Brunswick and Gerard Poliquin and his wife Suzanne of Brunswick, one sister Irene Berube of Meriden, CT, and three granddaughters, Heather, Whitney, Brianna and Little Leon, who were all very special to Papa. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson along with his Aunt Julie Dione, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roland was predeceased by his parents, sisters Cecile and Theresa, brothers Michael and Leo and his son Roland Poliquin.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 at St. John’s Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick.
