PORTLAND — A 37-year-old Old Orchard Beach man has admitted he held up the Rite Aid pharmacy in town, threatening to shoot the pharmacist in the face if he alerted anyone, and made away with a quantity of opiate narcotics.
Billy Schildroth pleaded guilty Friday to the charge in U.S. District Court in Portland. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
Schildroth robbed the pharmacy on Feb. 13, driven there by Kyle Desmarais, 33, who pleaded guilty in June to aiding and abetting the robbery.
The robbery took place at about 6:45 p.m. at the pharmacy at 15 Saco Ave. The robber wore a ski mask.
According to documents on file at U.S. District Court, Schildroth absconded with Oxycontin and Suboxone after putting his hand inside his coat and telling the pharmacist that he had “a gun and five bullets” and not to alert anyone or he would shoot the pharmacist in the face.
The drugs were worth more than $500.
Both Schildroth and Desmarais will be scheduled for sentencing following the preparation of a report by the U.S. Probation office.
