TOPSHAM — Mrs. Elaine B. Miller, 84, of Arrowsic and Topsham, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at The Highlands in Topsham.

She was born in Needham, Mass., Aug. 14, 1929, to F. Walter and Dorothy Bennett. She graduated from Needham High School and Green Mountain College.

She was then employed as a secretary for Liberty Mutual Insurance for 10 years and traveled around the country during these professional years. She later worked for the human resources department at Wellesley College in the 1970s and ’80s.

She married Robert W. Miller of West Newton, Mass., in 1959, and they lived in Sherborn, Mass., in a house that Bob designed. They raised a daughter, Susan, and a son, Todd, there. They resided there until Bob’s retirement in 1991, when they moved to their home in Arrowsic overlooking the Kennebec River.

She enjoyed many activities including skiing in New England, Europe and the Rocky Mountains; tennis; and gardening.

She volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program in Bath for over 20 years. She valued her family and her friends above all, and her son and daughter would especially like to thank those who spent time with her in the last several years.

Mass.; a sister, Sally

Cook of Weston, Vt.; a niece, Nancy Miller of Newmarket, N.H.; and three nephews, including Douglas Cook of Hopkinton, Mass., Duncan Cook of West Falmouth, Mass., and Scott Miller of Southboro, Mass.

Services will be held at a later date.
