The Southern Maine Performing Arts Collaborative presents a traveling production of “Songs for a New World” Aug. 8-9 and Aug. 15-16.
This is the inaugural production of the Southern Maine Performing Arts Collaborative. As an organization, it is committed to providing expanded performance, educational and mentoring opportunities to those in greater Cumberland County. The program pairs seasoned local performers with students to produce a traveling summer musical to raise awareness and funds for the performing arts. This summer’s mentors include Jason Phillips, Adam Normand, Ashleigh St. Pierre, Tom Ferent, Teresa Dyer and Jessica Thompson.
Student performers include Celine Baker, Kayla Barton, Hannah Brackett, Olivia Esty, Anna Giroux, Emily Heatley, Rachel Llyod, Kendyll Martin, Ashley Mcbreairty, Libby McBride, Maggie McGovern, Julianne McLaughlin, Karl Monroe, Johanna Stanley, Annie Stevens, Jean Thornton, Rory Washburn and Ali Wintle.
The show is co-directed by Dillon Bates and Janelle LoSciuto with musical direction by Betty McIntyre.
Show dates, times, and locations are as follows:
• Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Bonny Eagle High School
• Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. at Bonny Eagle High School
• Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at North Windham Union Church
• Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Westbrook High School
• Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Westbrook High School
• Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Yarmouth High School
Tickets, available at the door, are $10 students and seniors, $12 adults. A portion of proceeds from each performance will be donated to the host institution’s performing arts programs.
