I’ve known Denise Tepler for almost 15 years. It’s a real pleasure to support her candidacy to represent Topsham in the Maine House.

She’s earned my support because of an admirable combination of personal attributes, public activity, and small business experience. She’s a 30-year resident of Topsham who, with her husband has raised her children, who attended Topsham schools, one of whom has become a Portland secondary school teacher. As an active school parent, she has a mother’s understanding of public education and its needs. In addition she’s also been involved in activities that enrich our community life, such as the United Way and BigBrothers/ BigSisters programs. In addition she established a successful small business that enables her to understand issues they face, such as taxes and marketing.

I can’t say enough about her personal qualities. She brings a capacity to think clearly, listen with real attention, and reflect a sense of genuine personal warmth, which will grace her service in a complex environment like the legislature. As a result I believe other legislators will listen to her as they address essential and critical issues, opposed by the LePage administration in areas familiar to her, like Head Start and Pre-K programs. Denise has the talent and drive to foster “across-the-aisle” alliances, so necessary for our democracy to function well.

I sincerely hope that as the campaign for this House seat progresses that more voters will come to know her as I do: a special, able, caring person, with impressive intelligence, energy, drive, and important life experience that can help Maine become an even better place to live and raise future generations.
