Ryan Stimson, 11, made a hole-in one during the South Portland Junior Open Golf Tournament at South Portland Municipal Golf Course on Aug. 16. Stimson aced the 130-yard fourth hole, using a 7-iron. The tournament was open to boys and girls ages 7-17. Dana Hinchliffe defeated Adam White in a one-hole playoff in the boys’ 13-17 division after both carded a 78 for 18 holes, and Stephanie Rodrigue shot an 85 to win the girls’ 13-17 division. Stimson won the boys’ 8-12 division with a nine-hole score of 36, and Koto Yamada placed first in the girls’ 8-12 division.

Bentley University basketball player Keegan Hyland of South Portland was named to the 2013-14 NABC Honors Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Hyland, in his first year of college action, averaged 12.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, primarily in a sixth-man role.

Richard Marciano carded a hole-in-one on the sixth hole at Salmon Falls Country Club on Aug. 5. Marciano used a 25-degree hybrid for the 165-yard shot, which was witnessed by Shamus Dailey, Ed Nelson and Sue Bell.

Leesa Smith of Poland Spring aced the sixth hole at Spring Meadows Golf Club on Aug. 5. Smith used a gap wedge for the 100-yard shot, which was witnessed by Linda Barlow, Deb Williams and Louise Lecompte.

Ray Rouselle used a 5-iron to make a hole-in-one on the 145-yard seventh hole at Dutch Elm on Aug. 7. Bob Miniutti, Gerry Goulet and Lional Desilva witnessed the shot.

M.J. King aced the 103-yard 17th hole at Martindale Country Club on Aug. 8, using a 9-iron for her second career hole-in-one. King’s playing partners were Nina Bartlett, Pat Kordalski and Donna Brewster.

Benjamin Birmingham of Saco recorded a hole-in-one on the seventh hole at South Portland Municipal Golf Course on Aug. 8. Birmingham used a pitching wedge for the 130-yard shot, which was witnessed by Phil Burgess.

Ed McDonough used a 5-hybrid to ace the 155-yard 13th hole at Gorham Country Club on Aug. 9. Jim Morrison, Buzzy Cather and Rene Bolduc witnessed the shot.

Bryan Harvie scored a hole-in-one on Aug. 9 at Dunegrass Golf Club, using a 5-iron for the 166-yard shot on the 11th hole. Witnesses included Mike Owens, Brian Poire and Jackson Schnyder.

Scott Weymouth carded a hole-in-one on the 184-yard seventh hole at the Woodlands Club in Falmouth on Aug. 16. He used a 5-iron to make the shot, which was witnessed by Don Holden, John Isacke and Scott Sirois.

Tom Jacobs recorded his sixth career hole-in-one on the fifth hole at Rockland Golf Club on Aug. 16. He used a 6-iron on the 136-yard shot, which was witnessed by Bob Sommers, Chandler Woodman and Armand Plourd.
