SOUTH BERWICK — Police here have charged a man who recently moved to town in connection with a number of burglaries and thefts at a housing subdivision. Police said power tools, lawn equipment, copper wiring and scrap metal were all reported stolen from homes and properties in the Agamenticus Estates area over the past month.

South Berwick Police, in a prepared statement issued Thursday, said wiring removed from a home for sale resulted in more than $1,000 in damage.

Trevor Perry, 23, of 4 Dogwood Drive, was charged Wednesday and was released on his own recognizance, according to the statement. He is scheduled to appear at York County Superior Court in Alfred in early October.

Police initially charged Perry with one count of burglary and theft, but say additional charges are expected to be forthcoming.

Police said some of the stolen items were later recovered, like a lawnmower, chainsaw, saw and other items. As well, they allege some of the stolen property was sold as scrap metal.

They said witness information and interviews led police to Perry, who had just recently moved to the area to stay with a friend. He is originally from North Berwick.
