Eduardo Rodriguez was solid again for Portland on the mound, going seven innings on five hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
Harrisburg’s Paolo Espino was equally as good. He retired the first 11 Sea Dogs and went eight shutout frames, permitting two hits, two walks and picking up 11 strikeouts.
In the ninth, Miller drove a Derek Self 1- 1 pitch over the right-field fence for the game’s lone run.
Portland reliever Mike McCarthy ( 10- 4) pitched two scoreless frames to earn the win.
The win sends the Sea Dogs 31 games over .500 ( 81- 50) for the first time since August 27, 1995, and bumped Portland’s Eastern Division lead to 2.5 games over Binghamton.
Sean Coyle made several solid plays in the field for Portland, helping to start four double plays.
The Sea Dogs send Keith Couch (7-1) to the hill tonight against New Hampshire’s Casey Lawrence (9-7). First pitch is s cheduled for 7:05 p.m.
