CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — A Cranston man is charged with killing his neighbors’ cat when it wandered into his yard.
Police charged 54-year-old Jon Main with malicious injury to an animal and shooting in a compact area after the incident on Friday.
Members of the Domenico family say their 7-year-old cat, Stubby, wandered into Main’s back yard. They say they heard a pop, then Stubby ran back home injured and gasped for air before dying.
Sheri Domenico says she wants Main to serve jail time. The animal charge carries up to two years in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
Police say Main was arraigned Friday night and brought to jail. A phone listing for Main could not be found Monday. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
