PORTLAND (AP) — A rally hosted by the national president of Planned Parenthood in support of Democratic candidate Mike Michaud has been postponed.
The “Women for Mike” rally with Cecile Richards had been planned for Wednesday at Portland City Hall. The Democrat’s campaign said Monday that the event will now take place at a later date.
A Michaud spokeswoman said that Richards had a scheduling conflict. Richards said she looks forward to visiting Maine later this fall to help his campaign.
The Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund PAC has endorsed Michaud in the three-person race with Republican Gov. Paul LePage and independent Eliot Cutler.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
