KENNEBUNK — Monthly parenting classes, led by Stevie Westmoreland, return to the Kennebunk Free Library on Friday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. Future classes will be held on the first Friday of every month at the library. Each month, a new topic will be addressed.
Besides being a parent and grandparent herself, Westmoreland has been in private practice as a licensed clinical professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist for 30 years. The class offers an opportunity for parents, grandparents and caregivers to gather to share the joys and challenges of parenthood. Skills developed will focus on identifying and understanding a child’s four basic feelings, calming down, and the positive effect of mirror neurons with a child.
The event is free, and open to all. Kennebunk Free Library is located at 112 Main St., Kennebunk.
For more information, visit Westmoreland’s website, www.katherinestevenswestmoreland.com/the-well.html, or call her at 985-2511.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
