Friday lunch, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., North Deering Congregational Church, 1364 Washington Ave., Portland. Haddock chowder $8, lobster roll $8, egg salad $5 and other items will be available. Free delivery for 10 or more orders.

Saturday

Chili, Chowda and Apple Dessert Contest, 4:30 p.m., with public tasting at 5 p.m., sponsored by Waterborough Historical Society and held at the Grange Hall, 31 West Road, South Waterboro.

Beans, chop suey, potato salad, pie, 4:30 to 6 p.m., Masonic Hall, Route 136, across from River Park, Durham. Adults $7.50, children 5 to 12 $3 and children under 5 free.
