Legion Events
On Sunday, Sept. 14, the American Legion Post No. 86 Auxiliary will be hosting a yard sale with all proceeds going to a local S.A.L. member who had an accident back on July 5. If anyone has items to be donated please call Meghan Fenton at 807-4482.
The monthly meetings are the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post, Lewision Road in Gray.
The Americanism chairman, Debra Small, at the Legion Post would like you to know that September has four special observances:
• Sept. 11, where we honor all those lives lost on that day in 2001. Remember all the first responders for there heroism, they were running into the building while people were trying to escape. There will be a candle vigil ceremony at the American Legion hall in Gray at 6 p.m.
• Sept. 14 is the 200th anniversary of the end of War of 1812, which prompted Francis Scott Key to write a special poem we all know as our National Anthem.
• Sept. 17 is Constitution Day. Our founding fathers completed their difficult work more than 200 years ago and it still governs our country today.
• Sept. 19, POW/MIA day. We must never rest till they all come home.
Mrs. Small will be going to the local schools to share these days. Whereas on Sept. 30, the Legion will be having a empty table ceremony so we will never forget.
