Kaylar N. Masellas, an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham, has graduated from the Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Knox, Ky. She is a 2011 graduate of Wells High School.

Army Pvt. Liam Fitzpatrick-Rys has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the brother of Seamus Fitpatrick-Rys of Gorham and is a 2012 graduate of Murdock High School, Winchendon, Mass.

“Bringing Worlds Together,” the third annual conference for veterans, their families and community members, will be held at the University of Maine Farmington campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be nine workshops on topics ranging from legal issues to traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. The conference is free. Bedard Pharmacy and Medical Supplies, based in Auburn, donated the use of 25 wheelchairs to Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization that transports veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials dedicated to their service with priority given to the oldest survivors of World War ll and veterans with a terminal illness. The wheelchairs were used on a trip from Portland in late August. More information about Honor Flight can be found at www.honorflight.org.
