TOPSHAM — Anna Ione Douglas, age 92, of Western Avenue, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. She was born on June 30, 1922, in Brunswick, the daughter of the late Clarence and Wilhelmina Fitz Griffing.

She attended Topsham and Brunswick schools, graduating from Brunswick High School in 1940. She married Herman C. Douglas of Topsham on Sept. 28, 1940, with the Rev. Robert Stuart officiating.

Anna was a member of the Topsham United Baptist Church where she was known as the White Elephant Table lady. In 1967, she began volunteering for the Thrift Shop at Mid Coast Hospital and received a pin for over 100 volunteer hours served. She was a member of the “Biggest Bucks of Maine,” president of the Riverview Cemetery Association, and vice president of Merrymeeters from 1986-1987. She enjoyed fishing and collecting playing cards.

She is survived by three children, Richard Herman of Lisbon Falls, Kenneth Lincoln of Topsham, and Mrs. Emile H. Caron (Sandra Lynn) of Brunswick, six grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, where a funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald McLaughlin officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Topsham, will be at a later date.
