First Parish hosting supper

The First Parish Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Road, Pownal, will host a baked bean and spaghetti supper, Saturday, Sept. 20, with settings at 5 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 adults, $4 children 5-12 and free for children under 5. To reserve tickets, call Lois at 688-4433.

Family folk dance

set for Sunday

A family folk dance will be held Sunday, Sept. 21, from 4:30-6 p.m., at Mallett Hall, 429 Hallowell Road. No partners are needed and all dances are taught. The suggested donation is $2. A social hour with potluck finger food and a music jam session starts at 6 p.m., followed by international folk dancing from 7-9 p.m. It will feature traditional music and dance from many cultures, including Balkan, English, French, Israeli and others. Mixed-level dances will be taught, followed by requests. First-timers are free; suggested donation is $5 adults, $3 children and $12 family.

Food pantry

on Wednesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.

Men’s breakfast

The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Church services

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor. His hours are Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Thursdays by appointment. The church phone is 688-4938. For more information, call St. Pierre at 837-0682. The church’s website, www.northpownalumc.org, also has an email link for the pastor. The church’s Prayer, Praise and Worship, with the Rev.
