FREEPORT — Bailey Coffin scored all three goals as the Freeport High School field hockey team earned its third straight Western Maine Conference victory with a 3-0 shutout of Poland on Monday.

The Falcons are 3-2 and host Cape Elizabeth on Wednesday (4 p.m.), while Poland fell to 3-2.

Coffin opened the scoring 7:24 into the game, and 15 minutes later doubled the advantage. She completed her hat trick with 11:52 remaining in regulation.

Abby Smith was solid in the midfield for the Falcons, and goaltender Morgan Karnes turned aside 10 shots.

Poland netminder Tia Lowndes had seven stops.

Taylor Schenker scored the game’s first two goals, and Dani Foster added two goals and an assist in the second half as the Falcons rolled to a WMC win on Saturday at Old Orchard Beach.

Freeport led 2-0 at the half.

Chloe Davidson, Coffin and Smith chipped in one goal each for the Falcons, with goaltender Karnes making three saves.

Mackenzie Rague scored on an end-to-end rush for the Seagulls’ only goal.

“We definitely played a lot better,” said Morse coach Stephanie Pinkham after her Shipbuilders battled a tough Windjammers team in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play on Monday.

Morse, 0-5 and slated to host Brewer on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., goaltender Bryanna Ringrose had 10 saves, with defenders Shaw Pinkham and Mallory Goodine earning the MVP of the Game Award.

“The defense was really good,” added coach Pinkham.

WISCASSET — Miranda McIntire scored the first and the final goal as the Wolverines improved to 3-0 with a 3-0 Mountain Valley Conference win on Saturday over Dirigo.

Wiscasset, which visits Hall-Dale today at 4 p.m., jumped on top 1-0 on McIntire’s first tally with 16 minutes remaining in the first half. Brooke Carlton assisted.

Grace Webber made it 2-0 at 3:37 of the second half on a Cougars (2-1) own goal, and McIntire finished off a pass from Gabby Chapman with 19:10 left to seal it.

Kayla Gordon had six saves for the shutout, and Maeve Carlson and Colleen Hendricks played well.

At Farmingdale, the Bulldogs scored three goals in three minutes midway through the first half for a MVC win over the 1-3 Wolverines.

Tyler Dubois, Nat Crocker and Eli Smith each scored two goals, with Tyler Nadeau and Alex Guiou adding a goal each.

Conlon Ranta had 12 saves in net for Wiscasset, which visits Lisbon on Friday at 4 p.m.

“We came out flat, and had a hard time coming together on Monday after a game on Saturday (a 3-2 win over Dirigo),” said Wiscasset coach Chris Cossette.

Playing well for Wiscasset was Nate Woodman, Russell Marr, Kevin Lynch and Brycson Grover.
