BIDDEFORD — Two Biddeford men are facing drug trafficking charges after a significant marijuana bust, according to the Biddeford Police Department.
Charles Hayes, 54, and Joshua Binette, 25, both of Biddeford, have been charged with unlawful trafficking in marijuana, which is a Class C crime. The charges arose from an investigation that culminated on Monday, when agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency York District Task Force and Biddeford Police served a search warrant at 7 Raymond St. The warrant was based on a joint investigation they had conducted, according to a statement from Biddeford police.
During the search, agents and officers seized 13 growing marijuana plants, 8.64 pounds of processed marijuana and $2,700 cash of suspected drug proceeds, according to the police. The 8.64 pounds of marijuana has an estimated street value of $34,500.
Police said Hayes and Binette were “very cooperative during the investigation,” and were issued summons to appear in superior court in Alfred on Oct. 22.
