BOARD OF DIRECTORS MESSAGE: The board of directors of the Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber invites one and all to Oktoberfest “Mid Coast Maine Style.” The weather seems to have made a quick transition into fall and, if you haven’t already done so, it’s time to plan on spending an enjoyable autumn afternoon at the Topsham Fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 20 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Buy your Oktoberfest tickets in advance so you that you need not pay extra at the door (21 years and up only).

You can easily and conveniently purchase tickets online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/834883.

At the large barn at the north end of the Topsham Fairgrounds (close to the band stage) bring your appetite for traditional German and pub fare provided by Sea Dog Brew Pub. They plan to have a wide variety of menu selections available for purchase on-site on the day of the event, including everything from snacks like warm pretzels, chili, wings, cheese and meat plates, and clam chowder to brats, pub burgers, hot dogs, Spaetzle Mac & Cheese, a Goulash bowl and smoked seafood roll, and, of course, dessert, including stout brownies.

If we haven’t already piqued your interest, there will be plenty of beer in the same “barn” including one specially brewed for this occasion by Brunswick’s own Ebenezer’s Brew Pub/Lively Brewing Company. Wine and other beverages will also be available.

In the afternoon, we’ll have the traditional stein hoisting and keg tossing contests. Throughout the day all can enjoy performances by these popular bands: Backlash, Vinyl Tap, the up and coming Maine singer-songwriter Amy Allen and KilCollins. They’ll be performing on the new concert stage adjacent to another barn (open to the performance stage).

We hope that you will join us on what promises to be a fun-filled day.

A portion of the Oktoberfest proceeds will be donated to the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust. Their mission is to conserve the remarkable diversity of the natural heritage of Brunswick, Topsham and Bowdoin. Oktoberfest is sponsored by BEK Inc., Topsham Fair Mall, The Highlands/Highland Green, Topsham Development, RE/MAX Riverside, River Landing, Bill Dodge Auto Group, town of Topsham and Sea Dog Brew Pub.
