BIDDEFORD — A New York man was arrested and charged with trafficking oxycodone Tuesday.
Agents from the Maine Drug Enforce-ment Agency’s York District Task Force were conducting an unrelated investigation on Tuesday night on Elm Street in Biddeford, according to a statement from MDEA Cmdr. Scott Pelletier, when they encountered a man later identified as Pierre Dupera, 31, of Brooklyn, New York, at the back of the Hannaford store, located at 299 Elm St.
When agents identified themselves, Dupera removed a bag from his pocket, dropped it on the ground and began to walk away, according to Pelletier.
An agent retrieved the bag and found it contained 608 oxycodone pills, according to Pelletier, which has an estimated street value of $20,000. Dupera was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs (oxycodone). Agents also seized $5,733 in suspected drug proceeds from Dupera, according to Pelletier.
Dupera was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred by Biddeford Police, where bail was set at $50,000.
