SACO — A New York man was arrested in relation to a recent alleged Rite Aid pharmacy robbery.
On Sept. 10, around 7:45 p.m., a staff person from the Rite Aid pharmacy at 461 Main St. reported to police that the drug store had just been robbed. No weapon was on display and the alleged robber had fled on foot, according to police reports.
Saco police interviewed witnesses and a Saco Police Department K-9 initiated a track, which led down side roads and over to the Ocean Park Road, where the track ended.
Saco Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Holland announced that police arrested Scott McMahon 32, of 21 Warsau St., Lacka-wanna, New York around noon on Friday, Sept. 19 and charged him with robbery in connection with the incident.
McMahon had been residing at the Roadway Inn on Ocean Park Road in Saco, according to Holland.
Investigators collected physical evidence from several locations including the pharmacy, the Roadway Inn Motel room where McMahon had been staying, and clothing that had been discarded in a wooded section adjacent to the motel, according to Holland.
McMahon was unable to post the $10,000 bail and was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred. McMahon is scheduled to appear at the York County Superior Court on Oct. 30, at 8:30 a.m.
