VoxPhotographs, a private gallery in Portland for the past seven years, has opened a public gallery space with an exhibit titled “URBAN,” featuring 60 photo-based images by 15 Maine artists.
The exhibit runs through Nov. 4 at the gallery, located at The Design Center/EcoHome Studio, 334 Forest Ave.
The new gallery has over 50 linear feet of wall space and a library of portfolios showcasing the work of all 34 Maine artists whose work the gallery represents.
The artists featured in the exhibit are: Mary Woodman, Audra Medunitza Welton, Abigail Wellman, Dave Weinberg, Dave Wade, Jan Pieter van Voorst van Beest, David Brooks Stess, Liv Kristin Robinson, Heath Paley, Kimberly Post, LeeAnne Mallonee, Michael Heiko, Susan Guthrie, Nathan Eldridge and Corey DesRochers.
In a press release about the opening and exhibit, Heather Frederick, founder and gallery director, said, “URBAN will demonstrate the visions of Maine’s fine art photographers in the age of digital darkroom, and the breadth of styles, presentation and subject matter will be surprising, I can assure you.”
The gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 323-1214 or go to voxphotographs.com.
