We are writing to support the candidacy of Roger Beeley for the Scarborough Town Council. In today’s partisan climate, those seeking elected office are too often focused on one issue. In Roger, however, we have the opportunity to elect a councilor who has both demonstrated a long-term commitment to the town of Scarborough and is open to examining issues from all perspectives.

Roger has been involved with the community for over 30 years. He first volunteered to serve on a K-8 school facilities committee and subsequently held local and statewide leadership positions in the Kiwanis Club and was active in the Greater Portland Chamber of Commerce. These relationships led to service on numerous town-affiliated committees and boards. Most significantly, Roger served on the Growth and Service Committee, as a Library Trustee, and on the Board of the Scarborough Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), where he served a term as chair. Since its inception, Roger also has been a part of the Scarborough Vision Committee. From the aggregate of these activities, he has developed a solid understanding of the economic, educational, and social issues facing Scarborough.

We charge our council members to preserve our quality of life and ensure that our students are ready to compete in a global economy while shaping a responsible budget. Based on his in-depth knowledge of the issues and ability to remain nonpartisan while analyzing competing points of view, Roger is well prepared to meet this challenge. I urge you to join us to vote for Roger Beeley for Town Council.
