AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine lawmakers are starting to vet 51 people that Gov. Paul LePage has nominated to state boards and commissions.

Legislative panels begin several days of public hearings begin on Wednesday. The full Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday to vote on whether to confirm the nominees.

Lawmakers will consider those nominated to the State Board of Education, the University of Maine System Board of Trustees, the Maine Labor Relations Board and others. Several of the nominees are reappointments.
