SANFORD — Learn the basics of growing quality Christmas trees from the experts at the Maine Forest Service and Tuckaway Tree Farm on Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Topics will include techniques for acquiring quality growing stock, picking a good site, planting trees, fertilizing, controlling pests and diseases, shearing, and marketing.
There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. The workshop will include a two-hour field session at Tuckaway Tree Farm in Lebanon.
Dress for the weather. Lunch will not be provided.
