BRUNSWICK — The League of Women Voters of the Brunswick area is hosting a forum for candidates running for Brunswick school board at 7 p. m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in Town Council Chambers at Town Hall, located at 85 Union St.
Former Harpswell Selectman Gordon Weil ( also a Times Record columnist) will moderate the forum and Brunswick resident Carol Visser will be the timekeeper. The public is encouraged to attend and pose written questions. For those unable to attend, public access Channel 3 will broadcast the forum live. The public may submit questions in advance via email to [email protected].
Candidates for the District 5, District 7, and At Large seats have all been invited and will have time to open with a short statement, to respond to questions posed in writing, and to conclude with a short statement. The League has invited all candidates who qualified for the Nov. 4 ballot to attend.
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
