FREEPORT — Earl Lemont Stimpson, 83, of Brunswick, died Sept. 19 at Freeport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Brunswick on Aug. 13, 1921, the son of Earl Lemont Stimpson Sr. and Bessie Collins Stimpson. He graduated from Brunswick High School.

He married Malena Kendrick in 1948.

Stimpson was employed at Bowdoin College, and also worked for 30 years as a civil service employee at Brunswick Naval Air Station. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army.

He was a member for over 70 years of the Fort George Lodge, of Knights of Pythias. He was a former grand chancellor of the organization, and traveled extensively with the state delegation.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Guy Stimpson, and wife, Song, of Killen, Texas, and a grandson, Sean Stimpson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 15 Pleasant St., Brunswick, with the Rev. Sylvia Stoker officiating. A Knights of Pythias service will also be conducted at that time.
