The voters in Maine’s legislative District 55 (Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Richmond) are truly fortunate to have Alice Elliott on your ballot this fall. I’ve known and worked with Alice for more than a decade and continue to be impressed by her talents and knowledge of the people and resources of our state. As a Maine native, Alice’s commitment to the state runs deep through her expertise and leadership in civic engagement initiatives in her community and across Maine, her understanding of the economic issues facing voters this year, and her dedication to making Maine a better place to live, work, and play. Alice has a wonderful ability to listen and communicate well with people from across the political spectrum. She understands that economic development in the state must occur in a way that leverages our core strengths – an unparalleled work ethic and tremendous breadth of skills and abilities among our working people – while not sacrificing our natural resource base nor apologizing for our location. Alice knows well the pivotal role education plays in ensuring economic growth and improved living standards for the people of Maine. And, as an ‘urban farmer,’ Master Gardener, and lover of the outdoors she epitomizes what I consider to be the Mainer for the 21st Century. Our state legislature needs dedicated individuals who can provide leadership in working toward solutions to the difficult problems facing our state in the years ahead without partisanship or rancor. Alice Elliott is one of those individuals.
