WOOLWICH — Charlotte F. Sutter, 96, of Hockomoc Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.

She was born in Damariscotta on May 31, 1918, a daughter of Norris A. and Lily M. (Bumpus) Waltz.

She graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1931. She was employed as a hairdresser and on Oct. 5, 1941, she married Chester W. Leeman. Chester passed away in October of 1983. In 1986, she married John B. Sutter.

She enjoyed going to the fairs and loved the Grange and Legion.

She was a member of the American Legion in Bath and Wiscasset and Social Order of the Beauceant. She was also a member of the Woolwich Grange for 75 years becoming a 7th degree member and an officer of the Maine State Grange for eight years.

She was predeceased by her husband John B. Sutter on Jan. 15, 2011, a brother, Maynard C. Waltz and a nephew, David Waltz.

She is survived by one son, Wayne F. Leeman of Woolwich, two stepsons, John Sutter II of Wiscasset and Kenneth Sutter and his wife Le of Tacoma, WA, four stepdaughters, Judy Wilbur of Wiscasset, Evelyn Mull and her husband John of Toledo, OH, Sally Doray of Hinsdale, NH and Joan Sutter of Wiscasset, nephew, Peter Waltz of NH, great niece, Vanessa Waltz of NM, three great nephews, Thomas Waltz of FL, Daniel Waltz of NH, Jeremy Waltz of NH and many step grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Riverside Cemetery in Woolwich. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Taste of Maine Restaurant, Route 1, Woolwich.
