Russell L. Desjardins, 72, of Warrensburg, MO and formerly of Bath, Maine, passed away on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Russell was born on March 4, 1942, in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Walter Louis Desjardins and Lillian (Dumbar) Desjardins. He resided in Bath, Maine, for the majority of his life where he was a shipbuilder with Bath Iron Works for over 30 years. In 2010, he moved to Warrensburg.

Survivors include three children: Russell L. Desjardins of Portland, ME; Lucille A. Young (Mark) of Topsham, ME and Jason W. Desjardins and (Jamie Orr) of Warrensburg, MO; seven grandchildren: Seth Coolbrith, Shelby Pettengill, Steve Young, Christina Young, Jake Young, Sarah Desjardins and Grace Desjardins; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Violet Higgins and Pauline Liggis; brother: Dennis Desjardins; four stepsisters: Beverly Brilliant, Hilda Brilliant, Nancy Brilliant and Linda Brilliant; stepbrother: Jerry Brilliant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters: Lillian Pappas and Verlynn Thayer; two brothers: Roland Desjardins and Oral Desjardins; four stepbrothers: Elzear “Buddy” Brilliant, Timmy Brilliant, Tommy Brilliant and Sammy Brilliant.

Per Russell’s wishes, following cremation his ashes will be privately scattered in the Atlantic Ocean.

All are welcome, family and friends for a celebration of life at the American Legion, 200 Congress Ave., Bath, ME 04530 at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014.
