TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School field hockey team fell short of remaining unbeaten as Tripp Middle School walked away with the victory, 2-1.
Tripp scored its first of two goals in the first half just sixteen minutes in, but the Eagles were able to battle and keep continuous pressure on the Tripp goaltender and eventually scored with 12 minutes left in the game to make it 2-1. Wyley Fitzpatrick was credited with the Eagles goal with Caroline Gepfert on the assist.
Netminders Gabie Head and Lily Schenk played well in goal to keep Tripp from scoring along with their defense including Maisy Piltch who had two defensive saves for the Eagles.
Other standouts in the contest from Mt. Ararat were Kelsea Dwelley, Madigan Saunders, Kalie Applyby, Emma Temple, Emma Ruth, Lexi Laurelez and Emily Robbins.
