Among the candidates for governor, Cutler’s views on policy are the closest to my own. But I’m not voting for him. Rather, I’m voting for Michaud. The reason is that Michaud is my second choice, and the polls show that Cutler cannot possibly win. A vote for Cutler is worse than a “wasted” vote: a vote for Cutler makes it less likely that my second choice, Michaud — my favorite candidate among those who can possibly be elected — will win.
If you are a Cutler advocate who believes, as I do, that he cannot win, then it is time to cut bait and voice your support for your second choice. As more of us declare for Michaud, others will see the momentum and understand that this is really a two-person race, between Michaud and LePage. Between these two, I strongly support Michaud.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
