BRUNSWICK & SOUTH HARPSWELL — Grace Marion Lane, 87, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth.

She was born in Lewiston, Oct. 16, 1926, the daughter of Randall and Alice Orr Lane.

She graduated from Brunswick High School, class of 1944.

Grace spent most of her growing up years in Harpswell at the farm of her grandparents, Rose and Fred Orr.

Grace began her career at N.E. Telephone Co. in 1946 as an operator at the Brunswick Town Hall, she then went to work in Portland in the Plant Department as a line assigner, she became a supervisor in repair service, and a staff instructor supervisor, a job that required her traveling throughout Maine. She retired in 1984.

Grace was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers, a member of King’s Daughters and the Elijah Kellogg, a volunteer in area hospitals’ friendly visitor programs, and a secretary for the Hillcrest Cemetery Association.

She is survived by a brother Fred Teele of North Carolina, a sister Martha Croasmun of Rexburg, Idaho, a stepsister Barbara Savary of Conway, New Hampshire, seven nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.

Monday at Brackett

Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, with the Rev. John Carson officiating. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Harpswell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elijah Kellogg Church, 917 Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell, ME 04079.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindly care to Grace provided by the staff of both Sunnybrook Village in Brunswick and Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth.
