As a young woman and someone concerned about the current direction of our state, I’m excited to support Joyce “Jay” McCreight for the Maine State House in District 51. I know that Jay will stand up and stand out as a strong voice for our community.
Jay has lived and worked in Maine for decades as a social worker and counselor with people of all ages. She has long been actively involved in the community as a volunteer at Coffin School, the OBI Fire Department, the Orrs Island Schoolhouse, and more. Jay is an integral part of our community and understands our needs.
Jay’s husband owns and operates a small company in Brunswick, so she knows what it’s like to try and grow and sustain a business. Jay will work hard to ensure that both business owners and workers can thrive in a stable economy. Part of this is her commitment to increasing access to health care for working families — those Mainers who need it most.
Jay has been a longtime worker, volunteer, and advocate in our community. She is an outstanding listener and knows how to turn ideas into action. Jay’s voice is one that voters in District 51 can trust to stand up for them in Augusta — I urge you to support her on November 4.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
