WARREN (AP) — Officials say a Maine State Prison inmate serving a 20-year sentence for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl has died.
Officials say 65-year-old Ronald Leslie Farrar died Tuesday at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. State Police and the state medical examiner’s office are reviewing the death.
Farrar had served approximately five years of a 20- year sentence for gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact.
He was among the first to be sentenced under the 2006 “Jessica’s law,” which prescribes harsher penalties for repeat offenders and for sex offenses against young children. The law is named for a 9-year-old Florida girl who was murdered by a registered sex offender.
