With the headline theme being “The Power of Partnership,” the second annual Sebago Summit is designed to foster a spirit of collaboration among business and municipal officials across the Lakes Region.
The full-day summit, which is sponsored by the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, will be held at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish on Tuesday, Oct. 14. It will feature four educational seminars, two keynote addresses, a trade show, a cash bar, and a much networking.
Aimee Senatore, executive director of the chamber, said she hopes the summit will encourage greater economic cooperation throughout the region.
“My vision coming into this role as executive director was to bring this community together in a way that it really hasn’t been,” Senatore said. “A lot of the towns have been focusing individually. I kind of wanted to open their minds up to, ‘What if we started working together?’ There’s power in that.”
Last year’s inaugural summit did not feature seminars, Senatore said. The seminars will focus on a variety of themes, including “Fostering A Successful Business Culture,” “Maximize Your Marketing,” and “Show Me the Money! How Social Media Pays Off.”
The partnership theme will loom large throughout the day. From 9:15-10:15 a.m., Kevin Hancock, president of Hancock Lumber, will deliver a keynote address, “Collective Impact: Building Networks for Success,” in which he will discuss how collaboration has helped his business thrive. In the afternoon, Senatore will moderate a keynote panel featuring municipal officials and business owners on “The Power of Partnership.”
Senatore said that officials from at least six Lakes Region municipalities will attend the event.
“We all know that our town meetings aren’t very well-attended,” Senatore said. “This is a great format to come and actually interact with the business community.”
Tom Bartell, Windham’s economic development director and a member of the chamber, said the summit offers an excellent opportunity for meaningful discussion between business owners and municipal officials.
“It really is about working together to improve your business and your partners’ business, so together we can all thrive. And that goes with municipalities as well,” Bartell said.
The chamber will accept registrations for the event at the door. Events run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $50. For more information, see www.sebagolakeschamber.com.
On Monday, Oct. 6, members of the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon cutting with Jake Ouellette, owner of the new AFLAC regional office at 9 Whites Bridge Road in Windham.
