HOUSTON (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts are looking forward to the return of owner Jim Irsay, who was suspended for the first six weeks of the season after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.
Coach Chuck Pagano says: “We talked about it in the locker room … we have 10 days to heal up and the best thing is that we get our boss back, we get our owner back.”
Irsay’s suspension stemmed from a March traffic stop in which police found various prescription drugs and more than $29,000 in cash.
He was also fined $500,000 and barred from being anywhere near his team until after Thursday night’s game.
Pagano says Irsay has been with the Colts in spirit, “but I can’t wait to have him in that locker room with us again and have him back in the building and grinding away with him.”
Cardinals
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals’ defense had a swagger about it through three games this season.
Arizona had won all three. The Cardinals hadn’t allowed a point in the fourth quarter.
Then came an awful afternoon in Colorado.
By the time the 41-20 loss to Denver was over, Arizona had allowed 568 yards, the most the franchise had given up since 1973. And there were some very bad Cardinals teams in that span.
Jets
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker was limited at practice for the second straight day, but coach Rex Ryan expects him to be able to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Decker is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out last Sunday at San Diego, but was able to participate in some team drills Thursday, a good sign that he’ll be able to face his former team.
Linebacker David Harris sat out practice with a shoulder injury for the second straight day, but Ryan is optimistic about his leading tackler playing.
Tight end Jeff Cumberland (illness) and safety Josh Bush (quadriceps) also did not practice. Wide receiver David Nelson (ankle), cornerback Darrin Walls (knee), center Nick Mangold (shoulder) and right guard Willie Colon (knee) were limited.
Top cornerback Dee Milliner (quadriceps) was a full participant after being limited Wednesday.
Lions
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Lions have barred a teenager from all Ford Field events for using a laser pointer at a game against the Bills.
Buffalo quarterback Kyle Orton and holder Colton Schmidt said they had a laser directed at them during a 17-14 win over the Lions on Sunday.
Detroit city attorney Melvin Hollowell identified the alleged offender as a 17- year-old from West Bloomfield, Michigan. He says the teen will be ticketed for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
The teen was using a ticket held by a season-ticket holder. The Lions are revoking that person’s tickets for the rest of the season.
Browns
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden did not practice for the second straight day because of a hip injury.
Haden’s absence was expected. Starting linebacker Paul Kruger’s was a surprise.
Following Thursday’s practice, the Browns listed Kruger as being out with a back injury. The extent of Kruger’s injury is not yet known. He was on the field for Wednesday’s workout.
Kruger is having a strong second season with Cleveland, recording two sacks. He only had 4 1/2 sacks a year ago.
