SACO — Morris L. Fisher Sr., 93, of Saco, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Falmouth By the Sea.
Morris was born in the Bronx, New York, on Sept. 24, 1921, the son of Samuel (Jacob Levi) Fisher and Pauline Lovenkron Fisher.
He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, and retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service after having worked in management for many years. While working, he and his family traveled throughout the United States and overseas.
He was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party and a loyal Yankees fan. He always considered himself a New Yorker, no matter where he lived. He loved gardening, reading, walking (especially on the beach), all kinds of animals and tinkering in his tool shop.
He dedicated the last 40 years to raising his children and being there for his many grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly. He was an avid fan of sports, theater and musical events when it came to seeing his grandchildren. They brought him so much joy and pride in all of their accomplishments. He would never forget an occasion and was always there for his family. He gave the greatest gift of all by teaching us to love one another unconditionally.
He was predeceased by: his wife, Helen R. Fisher.
He is survived by: his seven children, Penelope Tosatti and her husband Michael of Westbrook, Connecticut, Diana Fisher of Saco, Helen “Liz” Fisher of Saco, Rebecca Starr and her husband Greg of Berlin, Connecticut, Mary Lund and her husband Calvin of Caribou, Morris L. Fisher Jr. and his wife Judy of Cumberland, and Samantha Waterhouse and her husband Jerry of Dayton. He is also survived by: one sister, Mary Rawlins of Potsdam, New York; his grandchildren, Elise, Alaina, Amanda, Matthew, Casey, Emily, Ken, Ronald, Emma, Jared, Ethan, Brian, Chris, Kasey and Andrew; one sister-in-law, Grace Pasquill of Kittery; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A private funeral service for family and friends will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 with Reverend Dr. Burt Howe officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
