AT THE END OF LAST MONTH, students rallied against bullying at Region Ten Technical High School. Organized by Chef Ellen Turcotte, assisted by Nursing Assistant Instructor Joanne McMahon and Early Childhood Instructor Margaret Perry, at the mid-session breaks students paraded through and around the school in support of Region Ten’s efforts against bullying. According to Region Ten Director Barry Lohnes, the enthusiasm was infectious. “We emphasize a ‘live and let live’ philosophy,” he said, adding that “Region Ten works daily to maintain harmony, but with nearly three hundred students from six area high schools, including home-schooled students, it helps if students and staff can offer an emphatic reminder that there is no tolerance for bullying behavior at our school.” Region Ten Tech, located on a four-acre campus on Church Road in Brunswick, educates students from Brunswick, RSU 5 (Durham, Freeport and Pownal), MSAD 75 (Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell and Topsham), along with students from Lisbon High School and lesser numbers from two other high schools.
